Syrian Girl Asks J.K. Rowling for 'Potter' Book

The heartbreaking reality in Syria

As readers, sometimes we take our situation for granted. There are many people in the world who are illiterate and many of those do not have access to books.

J.K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series has been active on Twitter lately, promoting her charities, commenting on politics, and responding to questions from fans.

Bana is a Syrian girl living in Aleppo, which has been repeatedly bombed, resulting in the deaths of many innocent civilians. Her mom, Fatemah, manages their Twitter account and recently contacted J.K. Rowling about getting Bana a Harry Potter book.

Thanks to Neil and Rowling, there's a possibility that Bana will be able to read Harry Potter. With a city under constant attack, it's not plausible to venture into the streets searching for a book. Hopefully Bana gets it soon and the innocent citizens of Aleppo and cities around the world stay safe.

UPDATE 11/23/16: Bana has received the books!
