Season 7 "Game of Thrones" Script Reportedly Leaked

Hackers have hit HBO

Ravenous "Game of Thrones" fans have perhaps gone too far this time. HBO has been hacked, and a season 7 script of "Game of Thrones" has apparently leaked online.

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, HBO confirmed the hack:

HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information. We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.

1.5 terabytes of HBO's content was taken in the hack. In addition to the "Game of Thrones" script, full episodes of "Ballers" and "Room 104" have been put online. Though HBO's juggernaut has so far evaded having any episodes from the 7th season released, the hackers claim more is "coming soon."

The anonymous hackers announced the leak with an email to several reporters. They said:

Hi to all mankind. The greatest leak of cyber space era is happening. What’s its name? Oh I forget to tell. Its HBO and Game of Thrones……!!!!!! You are lucky to be the first pioneers to witness and download the leak. Enjoy it & spread the words. Whoever spreads well, we will have an interview with him. HBO is falling.

While we're not sure if a leaked script for "Game of Thrones" necessarily merits the statement that "HBO is falling," 1.5 terabytes is a fairly substantial amount of data. Though, if full episodes have been released of other HBO series, it seems less likely that the hackers have any dragons up their sleeves.
