Lee Child Confirms Tom Cruise Too Short to Play Jack Reacher Anymore

"The size of Reacher is a big component of who he is.”

The Jack Reacher franchise is getting rebooted with a new lead actor after creator Lee Child admitted that Tom Cruise is too short for the role.

Readers complained about Cruise’s inability to capture the former major’s physicality that was described in the books. The character was written to be 6’5” with hands the size of dinner plates. Cruise is 5’7”.

"I really enjoyed working with Cruise. He's a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun," Child told BBC. "But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it's a big component of who he is.”

The author signed a deal just last week to bring the character to small screen streaming.

It’s a shame that after two movies Cruise’s time in the role has been cut short.
