Anna Kendrick Announces Title, Release Date of Book

Anna Kendrick needs no introduction at this point: she’s a superstar actress that has dominated stage and screen, handling her successes with a relatable attitude that’s awkward and affable at all times. As if all those reasons weren’t enough to love her, she’s now taking on the role of author. After more than a year of rumors and writing, Kendrick officially announced the name and release date for her upcoming first book on Monday via her always-funny Twitter account.

Scrappy Little Nobody is a series of autobiographical essays, chronicling key moments from her life, from her middle-class upbringing in Maine to her early involvement in plays in film that put her on the path she’s on today. If her online writings are any indication of what the book will be like, we’re in for a whirlwind of wit, honesty, and heart.

“I’m excited to publish my first book, and because I get uncomfortable when people have high expectations, I'd like to use this opportunity to showcase my ineptitude, pettiness, and the frequency with which I embarrass myself,” Kendrick said in a statement. “And while many of my female inspirations who have become authors are incredibly well-educated and accomplished comedy writers, I'm very, very funny on Twitter, according to Buzzfeed and my mom, so I feel like this is a great idea. Quick question: are run-on sentences still frowned upon? Wait, is ending a sentence with a preposition still frowned upon? I mean, upon frowned? Dammit!

Scrappy Little Nobody comes out on November 15 through Simon & Schuster imprint Touchstone. Mark your calendars.
