HBO Exec Teases 'Many, Many Deaths' in Game of Thrones Final Season

"When you play the game of thrones, you win or die. There is no middle ground."

I know. It's hardly news that Game of Thrones is partial to killing, nay, obliterating its most beloved characters in a variety of ghastly and gruesome ways. However, in order to have an eighth and final season, a good handful of our favorites remain alive and kicking. Not for long, however.

HBO SVP of drama, Francesca Orsi has hinted that, in her words, "many, many" lives will be lost in the final season of HBO's massively successful fantasy drama. Speaking at the INTV Conference in Israel, Orsi described the final table read-through of the Season 8 script as "a really powerful moment in our lives and our careers." She said that "none of the cast had received the scripts prior, and one by one they started falling down to their deaths."

Orsi noted that when the reading concluded, it prompted a fifteen minute standing ovation.  "It was amazing. By the very end, everyone looked down and looked up and tears were in their eyes."

The final season is set to premiere most likely in 2019, with filming currently underway in Belfast.
