Gucci Mane Memoir in the Works

The real story behind his rise, fall, and climb back up

Rapper Gucci Mane has hit the ground running following his recent release from prison. Serving 3 years for weapons charges, the musician has maintained a steady output of content, releasing mixtape after mixtape from behind bars. Now that he is free, it would seem Gucci is looking to continue his prolific career by expanding beyond the music world.

Gucci Mane has already starred in one Harmony Korine movie, Spring Breakers, and is reportedly starring in another one currently in production. Movies, music, and now, a spokesperson from the publishing house Simon & Schuster has confirmed that Gucci is moving into the book industry with the penning of his upcoming memoir.

The rapper is a hip-hop legend and one of the most influential artists and talent scouts in contemporary American music, but much of his personal life remains shrouded in mystery and colored by myth. Hip-hop fans everywhere will surely jump at the chance to get to know Gucci’s story. In a statement for Fader Magazine, a representative from Simon and Schuster said the following of the memoir:

Simon & Schuster is thrilled to publish Gucci’s story in his own words… Gucci Mane is one of the most influential and revered hip hop artists in the world. His impact on American music is profound. This will be a major memoir revealing the life and times of the artist and man, chronicling his youth, ascent to the top of the Atlanta trap scene, incarceration, struggles with addiction and personal rebirth.
