When asked how she feels about the film, Walls told Bookstr she is 'over the moon.’ She said the movie could have taken cheap shots at her family, whom she describes as ‘very easy to turn into caricatures,’ but that director Destin Daniel Cretton is 'not interested in two-dimensional characters,' and is drawn to 'complicated, nuanced’ stories.' “It was an homage to authenticity,” said Walls.
