'The Goldfinch' Scores 'Baby Driver' Star Ansel Elgort

Elgort will bring paint to emotional performance

The film adaptation of Donna Tartt's Pulitzer-Prize winning novel The Goldfinch has found its lead: Ansel Elgort will play the role of Theo.

Known for his particularly emotional heart-warming performance in The Fault in Our Stars, Elgort is a perfect choice for the role.

The Goldfinch follows the emotional and physical journey of Theo Decker who, after suffering the tragic loss of his mother in a terrorist attack while visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art, finds himself walking away unscathed and clinging onto a captivating painting that serves as a haunting reminder of loss. Throughout Theo's journey the book explores the meaning of art as well as the complex dynamic of love, loss, and friendship.

The Goldfinch will be adapted by Warner Bros. and Amazon Studios. Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) will serve as screenwriter and will be joined by John Crowley (Brooklyn) who will serve as director.
